A few months ago we were asked by the Rotary Club of Parkstone whether some of our members with their MGs would attend a charity fund raising day, in Poole Park.Although clashing with other local events, 5 cars from 1020 attended this very different and enjoyable event.
It was great fun to see family pets of all breeds and sizes racing down the track, not always the largest dogs winning their races. Much discussion and observation of the dogs took place before we placed small bets on our chosen dogs. Bill Rockstro was particularly good at checking out the form of the runners and came away a substantial winner.
If there had been a prize for the slowest dog it would have been won very easily by the Bassett Hound which arrived at the finishing line 30 seconds after all the other dogs in his race, even after being given a 25 yard start!
The weather was superb, the site, with the backdrop of the boating lake in the park, was excellent and if we are invited to attend again I would be more than happy to do so. It was a very restful day out.
