Few, if any, 1020 club members are likely to ever have the need to fit a child seat into their MGF or MGTF – but just in case the situation does arise the warning is simple… don’t even consider it.
A senior MG development engineer has pointed out that the MGF and TF (even those without a passenger airbag) were never approved to carry a child seat and none of the child seats available on the market will correctly fit the two models.
He warns that at the time the cars were developed they checked seven or eight different child seats and none could be attached securely. Owners are also advised not to try replacing the standard MG seats with child seat friendly ones as there is no correct locating point for the seats and seat belts.
