Poole’s Friday "Quay for my Car" event starts on 6th May and runs until 26th August 2005.
Every Friday night from 6pm to 9pm, between these dates, there will be some form of car show on the Quay.
MGs have TWO opportunties to be there!
Firstly, on the 1st Friday of every month, the Quay will be open to ‘Red open topped sports cars’ – so, if you have a red or ‘reddish’ soft topped MG of any kind please try to get to the Quay for this brilliant local event!
Past year’s experiences have shown that the masses tend to arrive at about 6.30pm, to grab the prime spots and get into the chippie before the queues start!
You can expect to see anything upto 100 soft topped sports cars – ranging from MGs, SL Mercedes, BMWs, Triumphs, TVRs, Caterham 7s, Suzukis, etc.
SECONDLY and MOST IMPORTANTLY, on the 4th Friday of every month, for the first time ever, the Quay will host an evening for ‘Classic British Sports Cars (pre 1983)’.
This is a first, and as such future placement will depend on this year’s attendance levels, so please, please, please if you have a pre-’83 MG, whatever the colour or condition, make your way to Poole Quay for these events, in your MG. If you aren’t a member of our club, don’t worry – Nigel will undoubtedly be on hand to take your details and ensure you never escape our clutches again! Please use this opportunity to enjoy your MG with like minded people – as they say, use it or lose it.
For those with post-’83 MGs – watch this space. ‘The Guide’, Poole Tourism’s colour brochure has been issued without the "pre-’83" notice, therefore, I might try gatecrashing the ‘oldies’ party. My interpretation is that any MG is a classic, is British and is certainly a sportscar – join me or email me (adrian@www.1020mg.org.uk) if you wish!
