Twenty eight club cars took part in the first 1020 seasonal outing of the year – last month’s Winter Road Run and Pub Lunch.
The scenic 40-mile road route was devised by new committee member Alistair Reid starting at Hamworthy Sports Club and finishing at the St Peter’s Finger pub at Lytchett Minster for a pre-booked Sunday roast.
Clear skies followed the convoy of cars which ranged from the usual ranks of classic MGBs to an RV8, MGBGT V8, MGC and an MGA through to more modern classics such an MGZR, MGFs and TFs plus a newer ZS sports utility and the all-electric MG4. There was also a guest appearance of the latest MGZS Hybrid+.
The route look participants into north Dorset then west towards Blandford and Milton Abbas before heading south to Wareham and then back towards Poole. There was universal praise for the route – the only complaint being that many would have liked it to be longer they were enjoying the first outing of the year so much.
At the finish 50 club members sat down to a very welcome and warming Sunday roast lunch.
