66 members attended this function held at the Thistle Hotel on Poole Quay. During the meal we were entertained by a pianist playing ‘easy listening’ and by Dr Balloonman – balloon artist extraordinaire. He moved from table to table producing some fantastic items from his very colourful selection of balloons. Not only did the balloons entertain, he had a very good line in repartee which kept many of the members laughing. Our guest of honour, Regional Secretary Nigel Knowles, was presented with a framed certificate of honorary membership of 1020. Penny Leach once again produced a wonderful birthday cake to mark the 30 years of the club, in the style of an ‘Art Deco’ MG garage. It not only looked but tasted good as well.
Thanks to the committee for providing the ‘fillings’ for the hamper – the prize in our free raffle, which was won by John Gully. The evening was most enjoyable and I am sure that all those who attended look forward to the next milestone anniversary in five years’ time.
