A contingent of 26 cars from 1020 assembled at Smedmore House on Saturday 13 September in support of the Autism Wessex charity at their autumn fayre. The event gave club members the opportunity to visit this privately-owned country house that was originally built around 1620 – it is only open to the public on a few days of each year. The views from the house are spectacular, down to the bay on one side and surrounded by hills on the other. Autism Wessex had arranged various stalls on the rear lawn of the house, these included craft stalls and tombola and entertainment was provided by a duo of guitarists who played throughout the afternoon. The weather was very kind to the group, warm temperatures, blue sky and hardly a breath of wind – a very enjoyable day.
