Shoppers in Wimborne were given an added treat when 1020 rolled into town to stage its now annual MG display in the heart of the square.
A baker’s dozen of representative cars from the club portfolio illustrated MGs history from the early ‘50s (TF and YB) through the ‘60s (Sprite, MGB Roadsters and MGB GTs of both rubber and chrome bumper design) and into the turn of the century with the MGF and TFs. For added interest Neil Hutchinson brought along his electric MGF, which attracted a few surprised comments.
Owners were soon engaged in animated conversation with passers-by, many of who were heard to say “I used to have one of those”.
With the cars on display for four hours, club members took the opportunity to visit the shops in the town centre and partake of lunch – a large contingent taking refuge in the recently refurbished Kings Head.
Organisers from Wimborne Bid were once again delighted to have 1020 in attendance and an invitation for 2015 is almost certain.
