Club members found themselves Swinging in the Rain when they supported the Highcliffe Rotary Club’s fund-raising jazz afternoon at Highcliffe Castle.
Graham Lowe co-ordinated a three-way display of cars from 1020, Poole Bay Classics and Dorset Jaguars as an added attraction to the jazz and swing event which eventually raised £4,000 in aid of Life Education Wessex.
Among the varied 1020 contingent, were the MGB V8 of current MGOC Regional Secretary Nigel Knowles and the MGB Roadster of previous Regional Secretary Nigel Hedges.
An early arrival at Highliffe allowed plenty of time for members to enjoy a barbecue lunch, tour the stalls and then settle down to music from Swing Unlimited Big Band.
The predicted short sharp showers duly arrived but the precautionary erection of the club event shelter meant that everyone was able to escape the worst of the weather.
