Bournemouth Wheels Festival

After waking very early to the sound of pouring rain and gutters overflowing we made an early start to go to the Wheels Festival. Four cars and passengers met up and convoyed to Boscombe Pier to make our way to our pre-booked stand. Driving along the promenade, still in pouring rain, our way was blocked by the Marines exhibition team unloading one of their RIBs. Waiting for them to off load took 45 minutes during which time the rain stopped. When the way was clear we finally made our way to the stand area. We were able to erect the club gazebo in the dry and thankfully never saw another drop of rain. In fact, between talking to visitors, lunch, a little sun bathing and watching the sailing fleet racing in the bay we spent a very enjoyable day. Many of our club members visited all of the attractions on offer and I think that there was a unanimous decision that the event was a great success. It is estimated that around 500,000 visitors attended the festival over the three days. Next year I would like to think that we might book a club stand for all three days and put the MG name out to an even wider audience. I would like to thank the organisers and Bournemouth Council for putting on this event and of course our club members who braved the early bad weather and turned out to support the club, thank you all.
