Our guest speaker at the meeting was Edith Carpenter, who spoke very emotively on behalf of Julia’s House. The charity was chosen by our members as the second charity for support in 2013.This year they will celebrate their 10th anniversary of dedicated caring for Dorset children with life limiting health problems. They need £3.4 million each year to provide their services, of which the government contributes 10%. The remainder is raised by charitable donations and fund raising events by all sectors of the community across the county. Julia’s house supports children and their families, from birth to the age of 18, at which time they transfer to adult care facilities. There are organised open days, throughout the year, when you can visit the house and experience for yourself the happy atmosphere that is provided by the dedicated staff.
