The guest speaker at our March meeting was Mike Crankshaw, an ex-chef from the Royal Yacht Britannia. Mike spoke to us about his life on board the Royal Yacht and regaled us with many anecdotes concerning the voyages in which he took part as a crew member. The history of the ship was very informative; from her launch in 1953 to decommissioning in December 1997 she served Queen and Country for 44 years.
Mike brought with him many personal photo albums of pictures, taken by royal photographers, which were of great interest to our members. This talk was so popular that many people asked for Mike to speak to us again in the future. We thank Mike for an extremely enjoyable evening.
